For those in the know, I've kept my "servers" in a closet under the stairs in my home. There was no real arrangement other than two computer boxes sitting on the carpet with cables running everywhere... and a bunch of crap thrown in afterwards. It is a closet after all. Well, I decided to get those computers off the ground for a couple of reasons: 1) carpet isn't the best place for electronics especially computers (ESD), and 2) to take advantage of the vertical space. I think it turned out pretty well. The best part was all the lumber was sitting in my attic from previous projects. Now everything is off the ground and the router and switch are mounted securely to the wall.
